Blues en mineur (violin lesson)
Blues en Mineur (Minor blues) is a Gypsy Jazz tune by Django Reinhardt. He recorded it several times in different forms. This violin lesson concentrates on the "Live in Rome" version, and also draws on the video featuring fiddler Jason Anick. I look at the intro, the first verse of the melody, and some ideas for a violin solo, including licks from Stephane Grappelli's solo and some typical Django motifs. A free pdf of the music used for this lesson is available to subscribers (see below). There are plenty more free video lessons on Gypsy jazz tunes and techniques elsewhere on The Fiddle Channel.

    I noticed many times where you play third finger then up to the next open string. Why not use the 4th finger instead? The extra finger would keep the rocking bow to a minimum.

    • @TheFiddleChannel
      @TheFiddleChannel 7 днів тому

      Many folk and country fiddle players prefer open strings to aid droning and "ringing strings". For me rocking bows are easy, whereas my fourth finger is relatively weak and inaccurate.
